Operation India - we are go.

After several months of planning and a last minute scramble to actually organise what we were doing, we are finally jetting off to India!

For any of you that don't know, this is our final year elective which forms a part of our last year of medical school. We are given the opportunity to organise to do a placement anywhere in the world in order to experience medicine in a different setting and culture as well as gain some more life experience which is of course an important part of being a doctor. Almost a year ago now we were trying to decide where in the world we wanted to go - a pretty hard thing to narrow down! India was a part of the world we had both always wanted to visit and it seemed like a great opportunity to experience the country and have a few adventures whilst we are there!

We will be working in a hospital in Delhi for six weeks, and then spending two weeks travelling when we will be joined by Michaela's boyfriend James. The exact details of what we will be doing and which departments we will be working in will be finalised when we get there so watch this space!

Lots of people (mainly our parents) wanted to know what we got up to whilst out there, so we decided keeping a blog was the best way to do this. We will endeavour to update you on our adventures and experiences and pop a few photos up so you can see how we're doing!

We fly tomorrow, which is very exciting! See you in India!

Thanks for reading!
